Share a vehicle with family

Give whoever else drives the vehicle its history in their own Drive DTC, with a pass code that stays encrypted the whole way.

Share this vehicle with whoever else drives it: they get its history in their own Drive DTC, and it stays encrypted the whole way. Sharing a vehicle is part of Drive DTC Pro and needs you to be signed in.

Share it

  1. In the Garage, select the vehicle.
  2. Under Share this vehicle press Share with family.
  3. A pass code is copied to your clipboard and shown under Their pass code. Text or email it to them.

The code is the key: anyone who has it can see this vehicle, so don't post it anywhere public. Press Copy again if you need it later.

Add a vehicle someone shared with you

  1. In the Garage, find Somebody shared a vehicle with you? at the bottom of the Share this vehicle panel.
  2. Paste the pass code and press Add. Copy the whole thing, including the part after the dot.
  3. Their vehicle and its history appear in your garage. Press Refresh from their copy to pick up anything new.

Keep it up to date or take it back

On the owner's side the panel says who has it and when it was last sent.

  • Update what they see sends your newest checkups.
  • Stop sharing takes it back. The pass no longer works, and nobody can open that vehicle with it.

A pass lasts 90 days before your app has to refresh it. Pressing Update what they see does that.

Note: Everything in a shared vehicle is sealed with a key of its own before it is uploaded, and the pass code holds that key. Whoever has the code sees the vehicle. Nobody else can, Drive DTC included.
