Drive DTC ("the app") is made by DriveDTC. This policy explains what the app collects and how it is used.
Live vehicle data, recordings, and your garage (vehicles, saved checkups, maintenance, and any customer details you enter) are stored on your computer. They are not sent anywhere unless you use the cloud features below. A crash log is also kept on your computer.
If you create an account, we store:
If you send a message from Help & support, we store your message, the email you give (if any), the app version and, if you leave "Include diagnostics" on, technical details: Windows and app versions, adapter and connection details, the trouble codes from your last checkup, and recent adapter messages. Your VIN is never included in diagnostics. If you're signed in, the message is linked to your account so you can see our reply in the app.
Crash reports are off unless you turn them on in Settings. When on, if the app crashes it sends the app version, Windows version and the technical error. They are not linked to your account and don't include vehicle data; your Windows user name is removed from file paths.
The app downloads announcements and app settings from our server (for example, a message that an update is available). This doesn't send any personal information.
Cloud data is stored with our hosting provider, Supabase, and sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Each account can only access its own records. Our admin tools show account emails, sign-up and last-seen dates, app versions, plans and the number of vehicles and checkups – not the contents of your garage. Access to the underlying data is limited to operating, securing and supporting the service, or when required by law.
Account emails (sign-up confirmations and password resets) and support emails are sent through our email provider, Resend, which receives the recipient's address and the email's contents in order to deliver it.
If you sign up on our website to hear when Drive DTC launches, we store your email address, where you signed up, when you signed up and confirmed, and a scrambled (hashed) form of your network address so we can stop spam sign-ups. We send one email to confirm, then only news about Drive DTC's launch and major updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and we never sell or share the list. These emails are sent through Resend.
When the app reads your vehicle's VIN, it looks up the make, model and engine, and the safety recalls for that model, from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a free public service. Only the VIN (or the make, model and year) is sent – no account details.
If you use shop mode to record customer details, you are responsible for having your customers' permission to store them and for handling their requests about that data.
In the app, open Account → Delete my cloud data to remove your synced records, share links, support messages and usage details. To delete your account entirely, email [email protected] from your account email address. Local data can be deleted by removing the Drive DTC folders in your Documents and AppData folders.
Drive DTC is not intended for children under 13.
If this policy changes, we will update the date above.
